Pottstown Rumble Volleyball

The tournament started out in 1991 with just three people organizing the event. We now have an executive board of 12 volunteers and a workforce of 40 people.

The first Pottstown Rumble Grass Volleyball Tournament was held in 1991. It was a one-day event hosting just under 200 players on 40 nets.

The event has grown over the years into a two-day tournament with 90+ nets and over 1200 players. The Pottstown Rumble is one of the biggest grass doubles tournaments in the nation with the reputation of having the toughest competition.


	2009 - WRAP UP ANOTHER RUMBLE GOES IN THE RECORD BOOKS In 2009, more than 1,700 players participated in the two-day tournament with Adam Roberts and Eyal Zimet winning the Men's Pro for the second year straight year. Local players, Kristen and Jocelyn Decker, took top honors in the Women's Pro division. Reporter Rosemarie Ross covered the Rumble for the Pottstown Mercury, the local newspaper. RUMBLE WRAP UP The 16th Annual Pottstown Rumble was the biggest success to date! The tournament was held under perfect weather conditions with temperatures in the low 80’s, no humidity, and a soft breeze blowing both days. 1,531 players competed in the 2-day tournament beating our previous attendance record set in 2003 by 100 players. Players from over 20 different states contributed to the 462 team field on 91 nets during Saturday's competition. The increase in attendance pushed the park to capacity, overflowing on to the island where 5 nets were set up to satisfy the record numbers. Saturday night’s Women's Open final was played in front of the biggest crowd to date as 3 time defending champions Laura Cook and Cameo Neeman were upset by Kaleena Miller and Lauren Schmidt. The match was a see-saw battle which included incredibly hard hitting by Kaleena Miller. The Men's Open final wrapped up on Sunday as 5 time champions Rob "Beetle" Baily and Jason Robertson battled through an incredibly difficult bracket to face Pete Devienere and Matt Davis in the finals. What started out looking like a landslide victory, at 6-0 in favor of Baily and Robertson, turned out to be a great match as Devienere and Davis battled back for their first lead of the game at 15-14. However, the momentum switched back in favor of Baily/Robertson when Baily put up the biggest block of the weekend on Matt Davis to save their tournament life and create a sideout. This eventually led to Baily and Robertson’s 6th championship in the Rumble’s 16 year history.
